Favorite Things Party

Eye patches with snail gel, le pen with a confetti cannon, diva wash for your skims bra and fancy cherries with crunchy corn. These are a few of OUR favorite things! I hosted my annual Favorite Things Party for the first time here in Charleston over the weekend and these ladies understood the assignment!

I used to host this annually back home in DC. I always loved getting together with my friends and learning about what everyone can’t live without and was excited to introduce my Charleston friends to this tradition. You see, I think my friends are successful, well read, and well-heeled ladies and they all know amazing tips, tricks, and products out there on the market. Many are business owners, moms, and gals about town (they know their stuff!) and sharing their favorites is what its all about!

Gather your besties and acquaintances, set a dollar amount (we did $50) and have everyone bring their favorite thing(s) they simply cannot live without. Anything goes… It could be a favorite coffee table book, beauty product, home item, tech device or snack. If your one favorite thing costs $40, then just add on a small favorite thing that costs $10 or perhaps a gift card to a favorite place or service to make up the difference. The goal is for everyone to leave with a new gift or treasure totaling the same amount that they spent. This is serious business!

Everyone brings their gift wrapped to the party. First order of business is for all attendees to drop their names into a bowl. After some cocktails and conversation, the bowl is passed around and everyone draws a name. The name you draw is the person that receives your gift. Then the recipient goes next to present their gift to the name that they drew, and so on. Of course it’s fun getting a new gift but at the end of the night you will have learned about a lot of favorite things that your friends gifted and everyone loves to see the final list so they can ponder all of the gifts for themselves. It truly is a fun night. Just add bubbles, lite bites, and some laughs - fun will be had.

For my favorite thing I gifted this and a gift card to Varnish Lane (my favorite place to get my nails done). I received a very thoughtful gift from my friend Russell who did her research on TikTok on the best beauty dupes! I am already obsessed with all of her picks! (These sponges, this mascara, this lipstick and this primer). I know I got a lot of messages from my friends back home in DC on what was gifted at this party so I thought it would be fun to compile the list here for reference as we are all on the quest for best in class products. And please feel free to drop a comment here or on my Instagram post about what you would bring to a favorite thing party!

Some standouts to me included this product (gives you Disney princess eyes), this supplement which tastes better than athletic greens, these are healthier than white strips (and effective), these are just like Bobbi Brown brushes minus the cost, this doesn’t have the bad chemical in it , this wash is the new laundress , and this one which is helpful to charge devices with solar power - so great for sporting events, boats, golf and outdoorsy events.
